Introducing Dr. Jay Ramachandran

Dr. Jay, 58, was born and raised in Chennai (Madras) to a staunch Hindu father and a traditional Christian mother.

Jay was more influenced by my father’s beliefs, values, and practices of Hinduism because his father was more religious than his mother. This deprived Jay of any Christian atmosphere and nurturing during his childhood and teenage years. Consequently, Jay formed a pluralistic religious belief.

However, in 1976, through God-orchestrated events, Jay came to know the true and living God by reading the books of John and Romans.

Until 1982 Jay worked in an engineering company and served God through his local church fellowship.

Late in 1982, Jay was led by the LORD to undertake full time ministry. He struggled to obey this prompting as he was earning a substantial salary and enjoying rapid career advancement. Jay battled for two years and finally obeyed the LORD in 1984.

Faith Journey Begins

After serving God for a year as an itinerant full time preacher, Jay felt the need of a formal theological education and relocated from Chennai to Bangalore.

As he was undertaking his Th.M. program, God began to open his eyes to see what He wanted Jay to do. He entered into a seminary with a desire of being equipped as a prominent and skillful preacher, but the LORD had different ideas and placed a church planting vision in his heart.

During the final years of his theological studies in Bangalore, Jay labored to plant seven churches… the LORD honored three.

In 1989, Jay founded Bible Believing Churches & Missions (BBCM) and continued to plant churches in Bangalore and challenge other church leaders to do the same.

At this time, the LORD made a way for Jay to learn more about His Word by undertaking further studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas, USA where he earned a Masters in Sacred Theology in 1992.

Following his studies, in faith, without a penny to his name, Jay returned to India and continued to work for vision of planting churches throughout the India subcontinent and SE Asia.

The LORD honored Jay’s faith step by increasing his ministry boundaries little by little.

Today, Jay is recognized as a gifted Bible teacher, preacher and an authority on Church Planting in South and Southeast Asian cultures.

Jay’s Family

Jay shares the joy of ministry with his wife Prema (a qualified Engineer) and two children; Samuel (currently undertaking his Doctorate in Missiology in TEDS, Deerfield, IL, USA) and Havilah (a qualified Speech Pathologist and Audiologist professional).

Jay has diligently pursued advanced education. His degrees include:
